Boy, those kids in the ’20s spent a lotta time coming up with a lotta slang terms. How’d they manage to come up with a whole vocabulary in between all that moonshine drinking, Charleston dancing, and jazz playing is beyond us, but we gotta say: There were some very ambitions linguists back in the Roaring ’20s.

For example, did you know that if you wanted to say that something was good, you could either say “it’s the bees knees!” or “it’s berries!” or “that’s the cat’s meow” or “it’s the cat’s pajamas” or “it’s ducky”? Apparently using animals to describe stuff was verrrry big back then. And the list doesn’t end there…you could also throw out a “keen”, a “nifty”, a “swell”, or even a “hotsy-totsy” or “darb” to describe what it is that you want to say is good but are too high hat to actually use the actual word! And we get it…some of it is pretty fun to say. Like, for instance, saying “screaming meemies” is a little more fun to say than “experiencing anxiety”. And calling a lady’s man a “cake-eater” has much more of a ring to it, wouldn’t you say? Boy, we could get into this! Or, or…how about saying “cash or check?” when you’re asking your date if they’d like to kiss now or later? What a smooth way to pose that question! We also kind of dig “tell it to Sweeney” when you think someone’s pulling your leg, or “trip for biscuits” to describe a wild goose chase. And “petting pantry” as a nickname for a movie theater? Hilarious (and also pretty true)! Now we get it! Oh man…those kids in the Roaring ’20s sure knew how to have a good time, even when they were just beating their gums!

So listen, baby…if you wanna be a real live wire instead of a flat tire this Halloween, get a wiggle on by getting dolled up in the kind of glad rags that’ll have you looking ab-sol-ute-ly swank. Try this Sequin and Fringe Red Plus Size Flapper on for size…everything will be Jake in this sleeveless pullover tank dress, and you’ll be puttin’ on the Ritz with its scoop neck that’s lined with silver sequins. The dropped waist skirt has 2 tiers of fringe over a sequin knit base layer, which will show your stilts and let everybody know you’re a real Floor Flusher! The silver sequined headband with a tuft full of red feathers will have you hittin’ on all sixes, and all you gotta do is find some fishnet stockings and proper boa and you’ll be in with all the Debs and Eggs. Attagirl! Now you’re on the trolley! (geez louise…once you get started with this slang stuff, it’s hard to stop! And how!)
